Coach Carrillo Joins Denver West as Varsity Assistant

DENVER, COLORADO, JULY 2, 2016 – The Mile High Centennials Basketball Academy's founder, Armando Carrillo Jr., has joined the Denver West Cowboys' basketball program as varsity assistant coach and head of skills development.

This addition follows a May hiring of Mike Brookhart as the new head coach. Previously, Brookhart led the boys basketball program at Cherry Creek High School from 2002 to the 2015-2016 season, and Creek's football program from 2008-2011. He was also a beloved Dean at the school.

"We at Denver West are very excited to have such an enthusiastic teacher of the game, as well as a great role model whom will surely resonate well within the Cowboys community," stated Coach Brookhart.

The Cowboys are a 4A hoops program, and have struggled over the past two seasons with a record of 11-35.

"It is a tremendous challenge for sure," noted Carrillo. "At the same time it's an exciting and humbling opportunity to rebuild a program."

Carrillo added: "With patience and hard work, I'm confident that with the new coaching staff in place, positive change will come."
